About time

Magical Stock Princess is almost complete. I am polishing some last few bits, and I am ticking off some stuff from the list and moving some other things from the "to-do list" to the "not happening" list, so I hope to release it in the next few days. Let's say weeks, just to be safe.

Originally I started this project aiming to complete it within 1 month, with a deadline set on the 29th of February. Well, here we are. When they says that the last bits take up 90% of the time, it's true. To be fair, it must be noted that I have spent the last couple months playing all the game that I didn't have time for before this lockdown thing. I completed Shenmue 3 ( I loved it), Death Stranding and played way too much with trucks in Mudrunners, along with other games. Now my thirst of games is quenched for a while, so it's time to go back to my little game.

I am so glad that I opted for a small scale project, it's a lot of work for one person. Especially working with third party assets, it's a pain. They don't come cheap, and they require a lot of work anyway.  I liked RPG Maker FES Resource Pack for the characters, but the tilesets have been a nightmare, and they required edits to make them look less ugly. Considering that they come with all sorts of bounds when it comes to license, this is something that I'll take heavily in consideration in the future.

Tilesets are the only regret I have so far, I feel that despite putting some effort, it's hard to get rid of that "generic" look feeling.

Conversely, here on itch.io I found some top quality assets for a fair price, like Aekashics portraits and Chippy's music pack, which I have used for the Rally music.

Other than this, I am quite happy with the results. Magical Stock Princess is a short but full game, and it's a game I wanted to play, which I think it's the most important thing.

I am looking forward to complete this small project.

Oh, here is a screenshot of the World Map
